Spotting during pregnancy

This is a common question for many pregnant women during pregnancy - what does spotting or little bleeding mean?
First and foremost, when you see spotting or bleeding or any pink / red discharge during anytime in your pregnancy, contact your gynacologist and report immediately. Do not hesitate to ask, no matter how little it was, and what time of the day it is. There is no alternative to this step.

Now, let me share my experience as to why it may happen and what could it mean.
During first trimester if you observe light bleeding or spotting, it may be due to vaginal examination performed by the medical expert (such as a gynacologist). This does not mean that the medical practitioner isn't doing it right, but it means your vaginal entrance is little sensitive and responds to the insertion (finger or device used for vaginal check).
Another reason could be contractions of uterus. In this case some medical expert may advice you to take magnesium tablet.

Slight bleeding or Spoting during second trimester is uncommon. However, the above two reasons may still be prevalent.

Slight bleeding or Spotting during third trimester, specofically during the end pf pregnancy (in last 2 weks or so) may be signs of labour about to begin (when? no one can say for sure). Light bleeding in red or pinkish discharge may not be a concern during this time. However, brown or green discharge can be alert signs, and must be reported immediately to hospital or a doctor.

Bleeding (similar to those dueing menstrual cycle) must be also be reported immediately as it is not normal during pregnancy.

During pregnancy there are many doubts that hover in mind, I hope I could clear one of them.

Note: I am no medical practitioner and I am only sharing my experience.

Husbands get pregnant too!

The journey of pregnancy starts with the Good News and the excitement that follows for nine months. And it ends with a beautiful new person in life.  Well this journey is lived by both Mom-to-be as well as Dad-to-be. Including pregnancy related symptoms, anxiousness, surprises, sleepless nights, pains and faints. Don't believe me yet, read along... When we got the good news, I felt emotional and sudden gush of happiness which I didn't knew how to express and tears rolled out. My husband held my hand, and his eyes and gestures expressed that this moment was the best moment in his life. Then started my first roller coaster ride with nausea and not able to eat. With vomiting 4-5 times a day, I was struggling to keep food inside my stomach. There were so many times, when I had dinner and then puked immediately after. My husband would simply skip his dinner then, so that I could eat my round 2 or 3 of dinner. He would have to eat snacks or breads, even after

How important is HCG?

HCG Level is one of the milestone to achieve at the start of the pregnancy. HCG is a hormone whose level increases with the onset of pregnancy. The levels are different for different women, and also depends on how far has pregnancy progressed. Arough value range can be found here . HCG levels are relevant only to be sure if you are pregnant or not. Once, the HCG level detected is higher than normal levels, it will no longer be monitored. Once pregnancy has onset, sonography and vaginal ultrasound are the means with which doctor will further monitor the progress of the growing foetus. Note: All information is based on my personal experience. I am not a medical expert.

Pregnancy Shopping for Moms-To-Be

During pregnancy, there are many physical changes occuring every month. Changes in size of clothes, shoes, jackets, lingerie and so on. And it is impossible to survive 9 months which the old size clothes. During the start of pregnancy it may, your old warddrobe might do the work, but with onset of second n third trimester you will need more comfy clothes matching your new size.  Then there's also the point of not spending high on pregnancy shopping as you wont be using them after 9 months.  So here are some tips on how to do some shopping for second and third trimester. (I wish I had known them beforr..could have saved some bucks) 1. For outdoor wear buy jeans with elastic extensions. You can buy your regular size or one size plus, as the elastic part extends enough for your growing belly. Size of your thighs and legs will not change much, so you can ourchase your regular size. I would recommend buying atleast one to two jeans, as this will come handy, especially when its windy, ra
